Since its founding in 1999 by Dewey Balfa's daughter Christine, Louisiana Folk Roots has been on a mission to celebrate as much of Louisiana's rich cultural heritage as possible, right here at the source, right here at home.
LFR's year-round programming explores a vast array of cultural traditions that make our corner of the world such a unique and amazing place, and their Atelier at Festivals Acadiens et Créoles is your up-close connection to many of these traditions, especially those of the musical kind that we all love so much. For two days, LFR fills the stage with an astonishing selection of performances and interactive workshops, many of them featuring musicians who are performing at the festival, providing rare insights into the music and magic of these artists.
And then there's the Louisiana Folk Roots Jam des Amis tent, where festival-goers have the opportunity to play alongside some of the best Cajun and Creole musicians Louisiana has to offer, picking up a few priceless pointers and having a great time all the while. Be sure your festival plans include a visit to the Louisiana Folk Roots Atelier and Jam des Amis tent. For more information on Louisiana Folk Roots, visit their website at www.lafolkroots.org. Merci!
