Festival de Musique Acadienne
This year’s Festivals Acadiens et Créoles are dedicated to Doug Kershaw, Joel Sonnier and Jimmy C Newman, musicians who were taking Cajun music out to a national audience and into the future well before it was cool. All three started out playing Cajun music in their respective home towns. They were discovered and signed by major labels, but none of them ever stopped playing Cajun music, inserting French songs into their regular shows, thus making the rest of the country aware of their roots music. This year, they are gathered together for a rare reunion and Cajun Country homecoming to play some of their own music as well as the music of their Cajun tradition.
